TADs

Temporary anchorage devices, or TADs, are small titanium anchors used in certain orthodontic cases. Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) for orthodontic anchorage are widely accepted. They are changing the way orthodontists treat some patients’ malocclusions. TADs provide a fixed point from which to apply force to move teeth. They can be placed in many different sites in the mouth and placement is customized for each patient. TADs may contribute to predictable results, shorter treatment time and completion of active treatment on schedule.

Although small, the TAD does a big job of helping your orthodontist move your teeth predictably into their optimal positions.

In cases where there are multiple missing teeth or complex mechanics requiring greater anchorage, your orthodontist may discuss the use of another variety of temporary anchorage device or bone plate(s) which together with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon; may be placed at the same time of schedulded removal of deciduous teeth or wisdom teeth.
